Advancing Healthcare Innovation: Insights from the SYNTHEMA Consortium Meeting in Barcelona

The consortium, a collaboration of various European entities, aims to leverage AI in combating rare hematological diseases, explored synergies between projects, laying the groundwork for collective impact and innovation in the healthcare domain.

In the dynamic realm of healthcare innovation, the recent consortium meeting held in Barcelona at the ERN-EuroBloodNet Member Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus on January 16th and 17th, 2024, emerged as a pivotal event, spotlighting progress and collaboration within the SYNTHEMA project. Inaugurated by Federico Alvarez, project coordinator and associate professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the gathering marked a significant milestone in our journey toward transformative healthcare solutions.

Central to the discussions was a comprehensive review of the project´s diverse activities, spanning coordination efforts and advancing key use cases, notably AML and SCD. With active participation from clinical partners, the meeting served as a platform to assess achievements and chart the course for future developments. A notable highlight was the unveiling an early version of the SYNTHEMA platform, sparking engaging discourse on its potential and avenues for further enhancement.

Beyond the confines of the SYNTHEMA project, the consortium meeting fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange, exemplified by the joint session with GenoMed4All. Delving into discussions on sustainability, participants explored synergies between projects, laying the groundwork for collective impact and innovation in the healthcare domain.
