Today 29th of February 2024 is celebrated the Rare Disease Day around the world! This day aims to raise global awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.
Among the actions organized by EURORDIS an official video of this Rare Disease Day edition has been launched in more than 60 languages and disseminated worldwide by the 72 National Alliance patient organization partners of Rare Disease Day, this video stands as a testament to our diverse, global community:
The 2024 video shines a light on the diverse community of over 300 million people living with a rare disease! Each participant, regardless of their nationality, age, gender, or type of disease - including rare cancers and undiagnosed conditions - had the opportunity to share their story.
Moreover, the Rare Disease Day team has led to your disposition, material and handbooks you can use to build awareness by:
- sharing your colours via social media (#RareDiseaseDay and #LightUpforRare), events, illuminating buildings, monuments and homes
- shining the light on people living with a rare disease
- sharing experiences online and with friends
- calling on policymakers
