Linda Myrin Westesson is a haemophilia nurse specialist at the Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre of Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. As a haemophilia nurse specialist at the EHCCC, her work is highly diverse, encompassing responsibilities such as independently leading the nurse clinic and coordinating clinical and academic trials. She is involved in the care of both children and adults with von Willebrand disease, haemophilia, and related bleeding disorders. Linda's research focuses on von Willebrand disease and its impact on the daily lives of affected families.
Cathy Verbraeken is a member of the EHC von Willebrand Committee and is also the chair of the von Willebrand Committee of the Dutch NMO. Cathy and her two daughters have von Willebrand disease, types 1 and 2N. She is giving her best to advocate for better care, more treatment options, and increased awareness of von Willebrand disease.
Annabel Kattai is a patient advocate who was diagnosed with Von Willebrand disease at the age of 4. Initially, her symptoms were limited to nosebleeds and minor bruising, allowing her to lead an active life, participating in sports like volleyball and running. However, at 18, she began experiencing internal bleeding. Her treatment started immediately, initially limited to medication during bleeding episodes. Currently, she undergoes prophylactic treatment twice a week. Annabel is pursuing a nursing degree and is an active member of the Estonian Hemophilia Society. She also works as an assistant nurse in the Hematology Department at the Northern Estonian Regional Hospital.
