Understanding Aplastic Anemia

Speakers: Beatrice Drexler, Isabelle Flageul

Prof. Beatrice Drexler is an attending physician at the Hematology Department of the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland, responsible for the posttransplant and bone marrow failure outpatients. Her research focuses on clinical aspects of bone marrow failure syndromes and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. She is an active member of the Severe Aplastic Anemia Working Party (SAAWP) of the EBMT.

Isabelle Flageul suffers from Multiple sclerosis since 2004. She contracted Idiopathic Aplastic anemia in 2012 and spent 6 weeks in a sterile chamber. Isabelle has completely recovered and is working part time (4/5)  on her company's CSR project.

She is also involved in a French Association HPN France Aplastic anemia to raise awareness, support research, connect help and defend the rights of patients and their families.

Regarding her personal life, Isabelle is divorced and the happy mother of a17 years old daughter.
