Dr. Malika Benkerrou is pediatrician at the University hospital Robert Debré (APHP) in Paris (France), in the hematology-immunology department of Prof. Baruchel and Prof. Dalle itself part of the large north Parisian immunohematology university department coordinated by Prof. Fenaux.

She has done her fellowship in pediatric immunology-hematology and bone marrow transplant unit In Prof. Griscelli and Prof. Fischer unit at Necker-Enfants malades university hospital for four years and 18 months as a postdoctoral fellow in cellular immunology at UCSF. She is head of the labelled reference center for constitutional red blood cell and erythropoiesis diseases since 1995 with the largest European pediatric cohort (2000 patients followed in 2021). Her team is coordinating monthly one international pluri-professional meeting for bone marrow-transplant proposals, one national neuro-radiology expertise, as well as a monthly regional expertise meeting on so-called "complex pédiatric sickle disease situations". She is part of de national reference center (MCGRE) as well as ERN-EuroBloodNet and the global Sickle Cell Disease Network.

She is member of the Inserm epidemiological research unit ECEVE UMR-1123, Paris University directed by Prof. Alberti.
