Dr Chee Wee Tan is a clinical and laboratory haematologist, and the director of haemophilia at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, Australia. He completed his PhD on the role of platelet receptors in haemostasis and thrombosis. He is the immediate past president of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand(THANZ), and the treasurer to the Executive Committee of the Australian Haemophilia Centre Directors' Organisation (AHCDO). He is the current vice president of education of the ISLH(International Society of 'Laboratory Haematology) and has served on a number of committees of the ISTH(International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis).

His main interests lie in aspects of clinical and laboratory haemostasis, including bleeding disorders such as haemophilia and von Willebrand's disease, venous thromboembolism (VTE), and platelet disorders such as heparin-induced thrombocytopenia(HIT), immune thrombocytopenia(ITP) and the thrombotic microangiopathies.

Professor Katrien Devreese (MD, PhD) is a professor in Hematology/Coagulation at Ghent University (Belgium) and head of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Ghent University. She is head of the Coagulation Laboratory at the Ghent University Hospital.

She is past-chair and co-chair of the Lupus Anticoagulant/Antiphospholipid Antibodies subcommittee of the Scientific and Standardization Committee of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). She serves as a member of the ISTH Education Training subcommittee. She is an executive board member and vice president of scientific communications of the International Society for Laboratory Hematology and associate editor of the International Journal of Laboratory Hematology. She is president of the Belgian Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

As head of the Coagulation Laboratory at the Ghent University Hospital, Prof. Devreese is active in different domains of laboratory hemostasis. Her research interests are focused on studies in the diagnostic field of Antiphospholipid Syndrome, as illustrated in many publications and guidelines.
