Speakers: Omid Seidizadeh

Omid Seidizadeh BMLS, MSc, PhD, is the Research Leader at the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center in Milan. He also serves as the first Chair of the EAHAD Working Group on von Willebrand Disease (VWD), where he leads international collaborative efforts to advance clinical, genetic, and translational research in VWD.
His work focuses on the genetics of coagulation, with a particular emphasis on von Willebrand factor (VWF), VWD, and the integration of large-scale population-level genomic data to better understand the prevalence, mechanisms, and clinical expression of bleeding disorders. He has leveraged population resources such as gnomAD to redefine the global genetic architecture and population prevalence of VWD and other hemostatic conditions. His research program also incorporates long-read sequencing, structural modeling, and in silico prediction frameworks to uncover the underlying causes of inherited coagulation disorders. Collectively, his work aims to bridge molecular insights with clinical application, improving diagnostic accuracy and advancing precision medicine approaches in hemostasis.
