A new clinical trial map is now available on the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS) public website, offering patients and healthcare professionals easy access to real-time information on clinical trials in their area. This tool enhances the CTIS by allowing users to search ongoing trials by location and condition, with features like lay-language search and autocorrect. Results include investigator contact details for direct inquiries. The map is initially in English, with more EU languages to be added later.
The map is part of the Accelerating Clinical Trials in the European Union (ACT EU) initiative for 2025-2026, responding to requests for a patient-friendly tool to locate trials.
CTIS provides a public, searchable database for healthcare professionals, patients, and citizens, ensuring transparency as required by the Clinical Trials Regulation. While EU/EEA Member States oversee trial authorization and monitoring, the EMA manages CTIS, with the European Commission overseeing the regulation's implementation.
