Maria L Lozano, MD, Ph.D. is associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Murcia, Attending Physician, and Head of the Hematology-Oncology Department at the Morales Meseguer Hospital, and Director of the Regional Blood Bank, Murcia, Spain. Member of Rare Diseases Networking Biomedical Research Centre (CIBERER).
Maria L Lozano attained her medical degree and Ph.D. from the University of Murcia and obtained a Post-doctoral Fulbright Fellowship at the Platelet Immunology Department from the Blood Research Institute (Milwaukee, WI). Professor Lozano’s research interest lies in the area of inherited and acquired platelet disorders, and cellular therapy product collection and processing. She has been president of the executive committee of the Spanish ITP Group (2018-2021), and Co-PI of the project "Functional and Molecular Characterization of Patients with Inherited Platelet Disorders" under the scientific sponsorship of the Spanish Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. She is a founding member of the European Research Consortium on ITP (ERCI). Dr. Lozano has authored or co-authored more than 160 manuscripts which have been published in international peer-reviewed journals, with more than 4000 citations (Hirsch´s index of 36)
