Speakers: Kathleen Freson

Target: Health professionals
Subnetworks: Bleeding - Coagulation disorders
Disease Groups: Rare hemorrhagic disorder due to a constitutional platelet anomaly

Kathleen Freson is a professor at KU Leuven in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences and the director of the Centre for Molecular and Vascular Biology. She studied bioscience engineering, specializing in cell and gene technology.

Her research focuses on omics and functional genetics studies to unravel bleeding and platelet disorders, and she also has a keen interest in studying stem cell-based models to understand molecular defects underlying inherited thrombocytopenia.

She chairs the subcommittees of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and is a member of the ClinGen Working Group for Thrombosis and Hemostasis as well as the ASH Subcommittee on Precision Medicine.
