ERN-EuroBloodNet supporting the Rare Disease Day 2023

By adhering to the Rare Diseass Day 2023, the ERN-EuroBlodNet aims to raising awareness on Rare Haematological Disorders for all people living with those conditions.

The first international Rare Disease Day was held in 2008, on the 29th of February, a rare date that occurs every 4 years. For supporting the campaign, set up and coordinated by EURORDIS and 65+ national alliance patient organisation partners, every year thousands of events are organised around the world. The scope is to give visibility to those 300 million of people affected by rare diseases worldwide. Living with a rare disorder could make people feel isolated and their needs invisible. By adhering also this year to the rare disease day campaign, the ERN-EuroBloodNet wants to contribute to supporting the voice of rare disease (RD) patients and their families.

With the creation of the ERNs, the European Commission created the mean for structuring the rare diseases patients' quality of care in Europe by establishing Reference Networks of Rare diseases aiming to make healthcare accessible and of the highest quality. Indeed, a consortium of 103 highly skilled and multidisciplinary healthcare teams in 24 Member States and 12 Umbrella patients' organizations constitutes the ERN-EuroBloodNet.

The ERN-EuroBloodNet community tailors together patient-centric initiatives for improving clinical patient management and increasing patients' quality of life.

In a nutshell, the Network contributes to innovative, efficient and sustainable health systems and facilitates access to better and safer healthcare for EU citizens while decreasing the cross-border health barriers existing for information, samples and patient mobility.

Today 28th of February, the ERN-EuroBloodNet, the ERN devoted to Rare Haematological Diseases, wants to contribute to International Rare Disease Day by supporting the voice of RD patients, and spreading patients' needs and expectations!
